That Mod Look

There are few things that make me feel more “vogue” than a shift dress. Adorned by icons like Twiggy and Jane Birkin, this style is synonymous with “the 60s—” a major decade of fashion inspiration for me. I have owned this dress for years (thank you, Urban Outfitters sale section) but I seldom pull it out of my closet for the summertime since I’m always tempted to pair it with black leggings, boots, and thick, winged eyeliner. In this weather, I start perspiring at the mere thought of dark colored tights and heavy makeup, so this week I decided to show some skin and step out in this shorter number. Here I sought to combine elements of vintage and modern by pairing the dress with a bold silver heel. Listening to copious amounts of The Velvet Underground while wearing this dress makes me want to light a cigarette, crop my hair, and put a record on.
